Other web based CAD deployment solutions generally involve sending a rendition of the CAD file down to your browser, one that gives a general overview of the file, but does not allow any further investigation. WebDGN delivers the CAD file without any translations, in its native format, allowing you to perform all view operations as if you were using the original CAD application (DGN or DWG). You can zoom in on small details without any loss of resolution. Level and layer information remains intact, so that you may alter the display of the CAD file to turn specific layers on or off (by default the file will come up as it was last saved). This is taken one step further, as you can also control the levels or layers in any attached reference CAD files.

Dimensions in the CAD file are real world, you can measure the length or areas in the units defined when the CAD file was created. Printing can be done by view, or by fenced area, and the results can be fitted to your printer paper or you can print to scale (WebDGN will generate multiple sheets with cut lines if needed). If you need a high resolution raster image as output instead of a paper print, there is a TIF Create option, that allows you to define the number of pixels to include in the image. Portions of the displayed CAD file may also be copied to the Windows clipboard, for inclusion as a bitmap into other applications such as your word processor or email package.

Text searching is done similar to the methods found in your word processor. Enter the text to search and press the search button. You can then search for the next occurrence or step back to a previous one. As the text is found, it will be centered in the display, and the viewed zoomed in by a factor that you control. There are options for searching such as: Case Sensitive, Fit Text To window, Wild Card Characters * and ?, and Search Reference Files.

  You may also specify an MSLINK and ENTITY value on the URL line, which will result in the DGN displayed and if an element is found with the matching values, it will be fitted to the current view area: http://www.pcscad.com/MYFILE.DGN?MSLINK=1001?ENTITY=1

  If you have the coordinates of an area to window up in a file, you can specify them on the URL line in one of two systems, either UORS or working units. http://www.pcscad.com/MYFILE.DGN?windowareauors=134343,34343,34444444,2222222

The new and much improved version of the plugin is now available. We are sure that you'll find this demo version so powerful and easy to use, that you'll want to get the full WebDGN Server version, with many more functions built in to it. All we ask is that you register your demo copies of the plugin with us. You will require a password to install the new version.

The WebDGN Client demo comes in two versions, one for IE 5.0 SP2 and latter (ActiveX Plugin for IE) and one for Netscape and IE 5.0 and earlier users (Netscape Plugin), since Microsoft has dropped support for Netscape style plugins in IE 5.0 SP2 and later versions. Both versions are contained in the single demo delivery package below. The demo is intended to show you the functionality of the WebDGN product, and this can only be achieved by connecting to a WebDGN Server, such as our demo server. Testing your own files from your web server will produce limited results, and will not show the complete power of WebDGN.
