WebDGN
This is a screen shot of WebDGN in action. This is what you will see inside Windows Internet Explorer when contacting a website that is running WebDGN. There are 4 raster files. nasa1 - nasa4 that make up the raster backdrop. When creating the data, after the first raster file was precision placed, the stitch command was use to accurately locate the next three raster files, nasa2,nasa3, and nasa4. The white border is a reference file. WebDGN handles both raster and reference files with a a simple setup on the server. WebDGN handles both microstation resource files for fonts and custom linestyles. WebDGN handles animation. If you load the WebDGN data set, you will see that the Pothole text is flashing and the linestring beside is showing flow direction towards the pothole on the runway. If you zoom in you will be able to see the small text. Of course you will need the WebDGN client software running on your machine to zoom in.

Why take a difficult costly path to distribute your CAD files over your intranet, when you can use WebDGN? Native file format support eliminates the need to translate your CAD files. Fast and easy installation on IIS, and a plugin for Internet Explorer or Netscape. Supports DGN and DWG, as well as hybrid raster/vector files. Print to scale, turn levels on or off, locate text string, measure, analyze, redline and more. Integrate with ODBC databases to allow you to click on a CAD file element and view the related database information from your ODBC data source. Search your database and locate the CAD file element linked to that database record. You pay only for the server side software, the client side plugins may be installed on all of the PC's in your organization. Other web based CAD deployment solutions generally involve sending a rendition of the CAD file down to your browser, one that gives a general overview of the file, but does not allow any further investigation. WebDGN delivers the CAD file without any translations, in its native format, allowing you to perform all view operations as if you were using the original CAD application (DGN or DWG). You can zoom in on small details without any loss of resolution. Level and layer information remains intact, so that you may alter the display of the CAD file to turn specific layers on or off (by default the file will come up as it was last saved). This is taken one step further, as you can also control the levels or layers in any attached reference CAD files. Dimensions in the CAD file are real world, you can measure the length or areas in the units defined when the CAD file was created. Printing can be done by view, or by fenced area, and the results can be fitted to your printer paper or you can print to scale (WebDGN will generate multiple sheets with cut lines if needed). If you need a high resolution raster image as output instead of a paper print, there is a TIF Create option, that allows you to define the number of pixels to include in the image. Portions of the displayed CAD file may also be copied to the Windows clipboard, for inclusion as a bitmap into other applications such as your word processor or email package. Text searching is done similar to the methods found in your word processor. Enter the text to search and press the search button. You can then search for the next occurrence or step back to a previous one. As the text is found, it will be centered in the display, and the viewed zoomed in by a factor that you control. There are options for searching such as: Case Sensitive, Fit Text To window, Wild Card Characters * and ?, and Search Reference Files. To call up a file from your web server, you simply pass the URL to your browser like this: http://pangaea.dyndns.biz/demofiles/Pba_bord.dgn There are also a number of options that you can specify on the URL line such as: You may call up the DGN file and specify a saved view to recall at the same time by passing the following link: http://www.pcscad.com/MYFILE.DGN?SavedView=border where “border” is the saved view that was defined using MicroStation̉. http://www.pcscad.com/MYFILE.DGN?windowarea=1:0:0,2:0:0,3:4,3:8:0
